Community Media Center Invites Local Veterans to Share Their Story of Service

The Community Media Center will hold a special Veterans Oral History Collection Day on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at the Community Media Center, 1301 Washington Road, Westminster, MD.

The Veterans Oral History Collection Day is an opportunity for Carroll County veterans to share their personal accounts of military service with the rest of our community. The focus of the project is to recognize our local veterans, honor them for their service and preserve their memories for future generations.

Local veterans interested in sharing their story should contact the Community Media Center to schedule an interview time. Interviews will be booked, by appointment only from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. To be included in the project, please schedule your appointment no later than June 5, 2026.

To sign up or to learn more about the project, please contact Sherry Taylor at staylor@carrollmediacenter.org or visit www.carrollmediacenter.org/carroll-county-history-project.

The goal of the Veterans Oral History Collection is not only to honor the courage and sacrifice of our local veterans, but also to preserve their memories as a lasting resource to help educate future generations. These important personal accounts can provide powerful insights into the experiences of our local veterans.

Every veteran has a story. A story of service, sacrifice, duty and pride. Whether an individual serve during wartime or peacetime, at home or overseas, their experiences deserve to be remembered. These personal accounts help bring history to life, adding a context and perspective that you can’t find in a textbook.

Interviews collected will be added to the Carroll County History Project’s permanent online video archive. On November 11, 2026 these and other local veteran interviews will be featured on cable channels 19 and HD-1072 during special all-day programming in observance of Veterans Day.
