Summary
As a Traffic Engineer, you will manage and perform traffic and transportation engineering functions for Carroll County. We are looking for a Civil Engineer to enhance the safe and efficient flow of vehicles through our roadways. You will develop new programs and initiatives to maintain our transportation system.
Essential Duties
- Manage, develop, coordinate, review, and perform detailed and complex traffic and transportation engineering studies. Review traffic impact studies.
- Prepare and review roadway changes to improve flow and safety.
- Manage the County traffic calming program, traffic signal design, construction, and maintenance. Provide direction to employees relating to traffic control devices.
- Review capital improvement plans for adequate traffic control devices. Prepare budget and supply requests.
- Represent County at public hearings, meetings, court proceedings involving traffic and transportation issues.
- Investigate complaints and requests of traffic control issues and communicate resolutions.
- Demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively with the public.
- Ensure all work is complete and timely to support department goals. Evaluate feedback and procedures to improve efficiency.
- Invite collaboration and seek learning opportunities. Proactively assist peers to create a supportive work environment.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field
- Three or more years of related experience
- A comparable amount of education and experience may be substituted for the minimum requirement.

Working Conditions

Traffic Engineer within the Department of Public Works/Engineering. Pay range $80,247 - $144,415 annual salary (Grade A500), 40 hours per week. Initial salary offers are determined by qualifications, experience, and available budget. Hours are typically Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.
