As the Recreation Program Coordinator, you will:

  • Plan, develop, and execute special events, festivals, and parades
  • Manage permits, contracts, licenses (including City liquor licensing), and compliance
  • Oversee daily operations of recreation facilities to ensure a safe, clean, welcoming environment
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and schedule part-time and seasonal staff
  • Lead volunteer coordination and service-learning programs
  • Develop marketing campaigns, press releases, and digital communications
  • Forecast, manage, and reconcile program budgets; monitor payroll and expenditures
  • Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with City, state, and federal regulations

Evenings, weekends, and holidays are part of the excitement — because that’s when community happens.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation & Parks or related field preferred
    OR
  • High School Diploma/GED plus four (4) years of related experience
  • Experience organizing events, leading recreation programs, and supervising staff strongly preferred
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience considered

Certifications and Key Skills:

  • Current First Aid & CPR certification
  • Valid Class C Driver’s License (or ability to obtain)
  • CPRP, Certified Pool Operator, or Playground Safety Inspector certifications a plus
  • Exceptional organization, teambuilding, and multitasking abilities
  • Customer-focused communication (in-person, phone, and digital)
  • Budget management and reporting experience
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and respond effectively in emergencies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software
  • A commitment to safety, professionalism, and community service

Pay and Benefits:

Non-Exempt, Hourly Rate: Starting $21.11 per hour -- depends on experience.
