WATER TREATMENT PLANT

1st Shift (7:00 AM - 3:00 PM)

As a Water Treatment Operator, you’ll be part of a team that monitors, treats, and delivers potable water in compliance with state and federal regulations. This is a hands-on role combining laboratory testing, equipment operation, data analysis, and preventative maintenance—ideal for someone who thrives in both technical and operational environments.

Routine Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine laboratory testing and analyze water quality samples throughout the treatment process.
  • Operate, monitor, and backwash clarifiers and filters to produce safe drinking water.
  • Handle and adjust chemical treatment systems, including replenishing supplies and adjusting feed rates.
  • Monitor meters, gauges, and control panels; maintain accurate operating logs and state-required records.
  • Collect water samples from wells, reservoirs, distribution sites, and customer locations.
  • Perform inspection, cleaning, and preventative maintenance on treatment plant equipment, vehicles, and facilities.
  • Identify and report unusual conditions or equipment malfunctions promptly.
  • Participate in training, workshops, and continuing education to stay current with industry practices.
  • Work safely, attentively, and collaboratively in a regulated operational environment.


Pay and Benefits

  • Plant Operator I (non-certified) $17.76/hour; will train; must either have or be able to obtain a CDL Class B license within 6 months. 
  • Plant Operator II (certified) $21.11/hour; must possess a valid CDL Class B license and current Class IV Water Treatment Certification from the State of Maryland.
